2008 Bavaria 42 Sport

ELUDE is a 2008 Bavaria 42 Sport that presents beautifully after a significant recent spend - a brand new electric blue hull wrap, new upholstery throughout, freshly laid teak in saloon and her annual service just completed. Twin Volvo Penta D6 310hp IPS drives with joystick control make her genuinely easy to handle and at 13.4 metres she offers the volume, two-cabin two-bathroom accommodation and entertaining space of a far larger boat.

Boarding is via a large teak-laid swim platform, stepping up through a stainless gate on the starboard side into one of the best entertaining cockpits in this size range. A large sun-bed at the aft end as well as a big U-shaped lounge to port wraping around a moulded table. To starboard sits a full entertainment unit with a Dometic fridge and under the lid, a sink, tap and generous bench space - everything needed to host without going below. The whole cockpit sits under a hardtop with an enormous opening sunroof, downlights throughout and windows all the way around, so it is bright and open on a good day and completely sealed on a bad one. A full black canvas enclosure closes the saloon and cockpit off from wind and weather. A Linsar television and Fusion speakers run through the space and teak flows from the platform right through the cockpit to the companionway steps. Forward on the port side is a second forward-facing L-shaped lounge, and up on the bow a large sunbed with anchor and electric winch. Grab rails run the full length of the side decks and across the hardtop, making movement around the boat easy and secure.

The starboard helm is paired with a two-seat forward-facing lounge and is well equipped: Simrad display with chart, sounder and instruments, a full bank of Volvo gauges, Icom IC-M304 VHF, Fusion head unit and trim tab control. The Volvo joystick sits alongside the throttles, and a central management display controls navigation lights, the sunroof and the vessel's switching. Port and starboard helm windows open, and the windscreen wraps the full width.

Down the companionway the saloon is a genuine surprise for a 42ft - full headroom, carpet underfoot, and a large L-shaped leather lounge to starboard that will seat ten in comfort. Opposite is a very well equipped galley with a Siemens microwave convection oven, two-burner induction cooktop, Siemens stainless sink and a Dometic fridge, with a Chiq television and an enormous amount of cupboard storage. Timber joinery runs throughout and the space feels warm and homely rather than utilitarian. The master cabin is forward: a queen island bed with timber cabinetry and lockers overhead, an opening deck hatch and opening portholes, a full hanging locker to starboard and a seat beside the bed. The en suite to port has a sink, electric toilet and separate shower, with good storage and an opening porthole. The second cabin aft has twin single beds, a two-seat lounge opposite, more timber joinery and plenty of downlights, with its own access to the second bathroom. Both cabins are far brighter and more generous than the length suggests.

Twin Volvo Penta D6 310hp diesels on IPS drives, approximately 1,300 hours. A Fischer Panda 3.8kVA generator, Dometic 12,000 BTU air conditioning to the saloon, electric anchor winch, trim tabs and transom shower. Engine access is through a large hatch under the cockpit lounge, opening the full bay for easy servicing.
